Yes, and we need to talk about what that actually means. 'pH-balanced' has become a marketing buzzword that doesn't tell the whole story. A product can be pH-balanced and still damage vaginal tissue and the microbiome.

What really matters is whether the entire formula, and every single ingredient, is safe for the highly absorbent, delicate vaginal environment.

vögeln is formulated with a pH of 4.31, sitting comfortably within the healthy vaginal range of 3.8–4.5.

pH-balanced AND microbiome-certified. That's the difference.

That is a personal preference, but we recommend applying generously (1–2 pumps to begin with). Reapply as needed.

Seriously though, this isn't the time to be shy — you can never use too much lube! The wetter the better.

Store at room temperature (15–25°C) in a dry place away from direct sunlight. Treat it well and it'll treat you well.

Osmolality measures how concentrated a solution is compared to the body's natural fluids. Lubes with higher osmolality than the vagina literally pull moisture out of vaginal cells through osmosis. The result? Dryness, irritation, cell damage and a disrupted microbiome — all things that increase infection and STI risk. Not exactly what you're going for.

Healthy vaginal secretions sit at around 260–370 mOsm/kg. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends personal lubes stay below 380 mOsm/kg to avoid irritating the vaginal mucosa.

Many commercial lubes? They come in at 2,000–6,000 mOsm/kg, that's up to 30 times more concentrated than your body's own fluids. That kind of osmotic mismatch doesn't just cause discomfort. Research shows it can damage the epithelial barrier (the delicate lining of the vagina), kill protective Lactobacillus bacteria, and increase susceptibility to STIs.

'Natural' doesn't always necessarily mean it's better. Osmolality has nothing to do with how clean or natural a product sounds. It's about the formulation. Glycerin and propylene glycol, which are common in 'gentle' lubes, are major contributors to high osmolality. That's exactly why vögeln contains neither.

vögeln's osmolality is formulated to match the body's own fluids, not so high it pulls moisture out, not so low it causes irritation. Just right.

Because it already belongs there. Lactic acid is naturally produced by the vaginal microbiome to maintain its acidic pH.

We've simply added more of what's already there, keeping the balance exactly where it should be. The pH of vögeln is 4.31, sitting comfortably within the healthy vaginal range of 3.8–4.5.

Carrageenan is a natural extract from red seaweed and it's our hero ingredient. It creates the luxurious, non-sticky texture that makes vögeln feel incredible in the vagina.

'Vögeln' is a German word with two meanings. On the surface it means 'birds' — think flight, freedom, taking off. Look a little closer and it's also German slang for f*cking.
